What Is API?
API stands for application programming interface. It can be helpful to think of the API as a way for different apps to talk to one another. For many users, the main interaction with the API will be through API keys, which allow other apps to access your account without you giving out your password.

According to users permissions we can specify their API key. MailChimp have five users role : Owner, Admin, Author, Manager & Viewer. Owner & Admin is a king for all So both of them can invites other users and they can assign the user levels. Now let see how to grab a existing MailChimp API key and generate a new API key. Here step by step procedure:
To connect your MailChimp Account to Third Party application, you will need your MailChimp API key.
Log into MailChimp (you must be a user with Manager level permissions). Managers can generate and view their own API keys. Users with administrator permissions can also see API keys of other account users.
In MailChimp, click your profile name to expand the Account Panel, and choose "Account".
Click the "Extras" drop-down menu and choose "API keys".
Copy an existing API key or click the "Create A Key" button.

In your MailChimp account, navigate to the Account page.
In the account drop-down menu, click Extras, and choose API Keys. Under the “Developing an App?” heading, click Register and Manage Your Apps.
